Chloride Group becomes independent as a result of buy-out of Vertiv Industrial Systems division
Chassieu, 21 December 2021 – Vertiv Industrial Systems business becomes independent and resumes Chloride name
Chloride is one of the world’s leading companies in the design and manufacturing of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for critical loads in the energy, transport, industry and infrastructure markets.
Chloride becomes an independent privately held company as a result of the buy-out of the business division of Vertiv (NYSE: VRT) by its management team supported by private investment fund Innovafonds and sovereign bank BPIFrance. The scope of the transaction comprises all industrial business activity globally including the manufacturing site in France, all patent and intellectual property, registered trademarks Chloride® and AEESTM as well as several regional assets. The product portfolio of Industrial AC and DC UPS systems as well as safety lighting portfolio are transferred in its entirety.
On completion of this transaction the new group with pro-forma sales of $90 million in 2021 has resumed its historical name Chloride.
Chloride employs more than 350 people worldwide and generates 70% of its turnover internationally, where the group has its installed base of nearly 70,000 systems often in environments that are hostile to electrical installations (extreme temperatures, saline atmosphere, explosive gases, etc.). Through its own regional network as well as through Chloride certified partner program, today the company can help its customers design new systems and service the installed based during all 20 years of systems design life in most countries around the world.
As a standalone company and with the help of its partners Chloride remains financially strong company to assure execution of multi-year projects as well as keep investing in the development of the innovative solutions and pushing technology boundaries of industrial UPS systems.
Whether in terms of products or services, innovation is at the heart of Chloride’s offering. The Group is positioning itself as a key partner in its customers’ energy transition and digitalization challenges. The R&D department has just finalised the development and integration of sodium-based batteries into its UPS systems, which represents a major advance in terms of UPS availability and safety as well as a significant reduction in the environmental footprint of power sources.
“All of us at Chloride are very excited about this new chapter and new possibilities of what we can do for our customers and partners building together a safer environment for everyone and helping to advance energy transition across industries” said Guillaume Perol, Chloride CEO.
